History of the Chesapeake Bay Flattie
{{code type="readmore" label="Read More"}}Around the turn of the century, flat-bottomed, shallow draft workboats, called Flatties, were used along the coast of Virginia and North Carolina to carry produce down shoal creeks to market, and for hauling oysters from shallow flats and bars. The Flattie's simple lines allowed it to be easily and cheaply built from commonly available lumber. Evolving into pleasure boats, Flattie's ply the waters of Chesapeake Bay to this day. Model kit hull construction: Die-cut side & bottom planking.
This Kit uses pre-cut parts to simplify construction. Some parts in this kit require cutting & fitting. The Success Series Construction Manual in this kit covers all phases of construction and finishing with clear illustrations and simple step-by-step instructions.
